Writing a fair review

Reviews help the next renter or landlord. A fair review is honest, specific and about what happened.

Do

  • Say what happened and when, in your own words.
  • Stick to the tenancy: communication, repairs, bond, the condition of the home, how rent was handled.
  • Keep it calm. A clear, polite review is more useful than an angry one.

Please do not

  • Do not share personal details such as phone numbers, emails, full addresses or photos of people.
  • Do not make accusations you cannot back up, such as saying someone broke the law.
  • Do not insult or threaten anyone, or comment on who they are (race, religion, gender, age, disability, family or where they are from).
  • Do not review someone you have not had a tenancy with.

After you post

The person you review can reply once. Anyone can report a review that breaks these guidelines. We remove reviews that do, and tell the author why. We do not remove a review just because it is negative.

If a review of you was removed, we email you the reason. You can write a new one that follows these guidelines. If you think a review about you is unfair but does not break them, you can reply to it once.
